The black (A phase)/red (B phase)/blue (C Phase)/white (Grounded/Neutral) color coding is used for 120/240V or 120/208V systems. The color brown (A Phase)/orange (B Phase)/ yellow (C phase)/gray (Grounded/Neutral) color coding is used for 480/277V or 600V systems. Green, Bare or Green with yellow stripes is always ground for any electrical system. That is the difference in the colors. The occasional exception is in control wiring such as thermostat wiring.
